Most Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
Consult your expert first—if your lashes are naturally super-short, you may not be the best candidate for the treatment.
Who's not a good candidate?
Pregnant or nursing
Diabetic (requires doctors clearance)
Chemotherapy (consult your doctor)
Viral infections and/or diseases
Epliepsy
Pacemaker or major heart problems
Organ transplant
Skin irritation or psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.)
Botox in the past two months
Accutane in the past year
Heart Conditions, uncontrollable high blood pressure, poor general health
Any treatments, medications, or illness that compromises the immune system/healing would make you not a good candidate for micro pigmentation procedure.
How long does it take?
About 3.5 hours
How long does it last?
The longevity of your eyebrows depends on your skin, health, and lifestyle. On average your eyebrows will last 3-5 years.
Will I need more than one session?
Semi-permanent eyebrows is a two part process. A perfecting session is required 6-8 weeks after your initial appointments. Typically, after the second session, a annual session (every 1-3 years) is required in order to keep your shape and color vibrant.
What can I expect after my appointment?
The Lip Blush healing process is relatively short. Your lips will go through various phases for about 7-10 days. You can expect swelling during and post treatment. Luckily it does not last very long. (24-48 hours)
Day 3-5 you will experience dry flakey lips. It feels as though they have been layering matte lipstick on.
Once the pigment flakes off it will appear as though no pigment has been retained. Over the next 6-8 weeks the color will gradually ‘bloom’ into a lovely soft shade.
Expect to drink all liquids with a straw and avoid eating salty or acidic foods for 7 days after. No kissing on or near the mouth for 7 days to avoid bacterial or viral infections.
How do I prepare before my appointment?
To ensure best results, make sure your health is in good condition.
1 week before
Stop taking the following supplements (Vitamin E, B6, Omega 3, Magnesium, Gingko Biloba, St. Johns Wort) as they contribute to thinning the blood and may affect anesthetic efficacy.
You may resume taking your vitamins 72 hours after.
24 - 48 hrs before and after your procedure
No alcohol, or blood thinning medications such as aspirin / ibuprofen. Tylenol is acceptable.
The day of your appointment:
Avoid caffeine, coffee, and exercise. This can cause sensitivity and increase bleeding & swelling and results in less color retention. Wash your hair in the morning as you will need to avoid water on your eyebrows for several days.
What are the aftercare instructions?
NO EXERCISE OR SWEATING : 2 WEEKS AFTER.
Exercise increases the heart rate and expands pores and produces sweat. All effects promote a loss of color retention. So for best results please avoid for 12-14 days following your procedure.
NO SUN EXPOSURE OR TANNING : 1 MONTH BEFORE AND AFTER
Please do not tan for one month prior and for one month following the procedure. Tanning is detrimental to the procedure. No exfoliants or hard scrubbing for 2 months, because even though the skin is healed on the outside, it is still healing on the inside. Do not disturb the healing process.
NO DIRTY WORK & NO TOUCHING OR SCRUBBING : 2 WEEKS
Lawn mowing, gardening, etc should wait until outer healing is complete. Keep your HANDS OFF!! Touching your tattoo could introduce bacteria into the open area which could cause an infection.
NO MAKEUP, LOTIONS, SOAP, WATER : 2 WEEKS NO CHEATING. It could result in an infection and loss of color.
SLEEP ELEVATED OR PROPPED UP : 1 WEEK
If you sleep on the treated area, you will lose color and also stain your sheets. So prevention is important. You may find that a travel neck pillow comes in quite handy after permanent makeup.
NO NORMAL SHOWERING & SWIMMING : 2 WEEKS
Please understand that chlorinated and salt water will discolor and/or totally remove your pigment. You should do your best to take a bath with lukewarm water NOT HOT WATER, the steam of the hot water will promote color loss. I have found it easiest to take a bath and avoid your face area completely. After your bath, wash the lower part of your face as normal, avoiding your forehead. Use a damp cotton round or wash cloth and carefully wet your forehead. Put face wash on the round and carefully remove dirt and oil. It is best to face directly down at the sink so the water/facewash doesn't run down onto your tattoo.
NEVER EVER EVER PICK, PEEL, RUB, SCRATCH, OR PULL ON SKIN THAT IS FLAKING OFF. YOU SHOULD ALLOW IT TO HEAL, AND FALL OFF NATURALLY.
